Come-out rolls establish the point in craps. The probability of establishing various points differs significantly. A point of four or ten has the lowest probability at 3 in 36 outcomes each. Points of five or nine occur in 4 in 36 outcomes. Points of six or eight, the most probable, occur in 5 in 36 outcomes. Understanding these distributions helps players evaluate the attractiveness of different betting opportunities.

Respecting the Game

Craps table etiquette is important for maintaining a positive gaming environment. Never touch the dice unless you are the shooter. Handle the dice with one hand only and throw them so both hit the back wall of the table. Avoid throwing the dice too hard or off the table entirely, as this disrupts the game.

Communication at the Table

Learn the common terminology and phrases used at craps tables. Call out your bets clearly to the stickman, who controls the game's pace and announces results. Respect other players' bets and avoid distracting the shooter or other participants with excessive conversation or movement.

Strategic Approach

Focus on bets with the lowest house edge. Pass line, don't pass, come, and don't come bets all feature approximately 1.41% house edges. Maximize the use of odds bets, which have zero house edge, to reduce your overall disadvantage. Avoid proposition bets in the center of the table, which carry house edges of 11% to 16%, making them mathematically unfavorable regardless of probability calculations.

Bankroll management is crucial. Set limits before playing and stick to them. Understanding probability helps you make rational decisions rather than emotional ones, leading to longer play sessions and reduced losses over time.
